Messages of gratitude such as "YOU ARE A SUPER PLAYER!!" and "THANK YOU!!" appear throughout the Super Mario franchise. Written from the perspective of each game's staff members, these messages are often seen in a game after completing it, seeing its staff credits, or beating its final post-game challenge, though they do not directly affect the game's measured completion. While these messages can appear as either parts of a game's interface or as tangible elements within the game's environment, they typically reflect some unique aspect of the game they appear in. These messages can be considered to be fourth wall breaks.
At the end of the game's final course, Funky, "YOU ARE A SUPER PLAYER" is written in coins. It instead reads "YOU ARE SUPER PLAYER!!" exclusively in the original game's Japanese version.
In the middle of the game's final non-Bonus Challenge course, Castles - Masterpiece Set, "YOSHI" is written in tracks. It instead reads "YOSSY", Yoshi's Japanese name, exclusively in the game's Japanese version.
At the end of the game's final course, Flying Squirrel Ovation, a semisolid cardboard sign reading "THANK YOU!!" appears. A cutout of Luigi is placed atop, acting as one of the game's Luigi sightings.
Near the end of the game's final course, Champion's Road, "THANK YOU!!" is written in Clear Pipes that the player can travel through, which causes them to light up and cycle through rainbow colors. Clear Pipes were introduced and are featured heavily in the game.
In the penultimate stage of the game, Bonus stage 21, "THANK YOU!!" is written in Blue Coins that appear when a P Switch is activated. These coins must be collected to fulfill the stage's clear condition, "Collect 100 coins and get to the goal!"
At the end of the game's final course, Mummy-Me Maze Forever, "THANK YOU!!" is written in Pluck Patches, which were introduced and are featured heavily in the game.
Near the end of the game's final mission, "Long Journey's End", "THANK YOU" is written in spark pylons, which the player must capture to navigate past.

At the end of the game, Mario either says, "Thanks for playing! Way to go!" or "Thanks for playing! You're the best! Ha ha!", depending on how much the player has progressed, and all of the characters wave to the player, with the message "THANKS FOR PLAYING!" displayed above them.
In the Bowser's Fury campaign, if the player collects all 100 Cat Shines, a special painting is shown after the credits, with the text "THANK YOU FOR PLAYING!" at the top. If the player collects less than 100 Cat Shines, the painting is completely blacked out except for the text.

When the "YOU DID IT!" text appears, a sparkling/shimmering sound effect plays; the internal name of this sound effect is se_YouAreSuperPlayer.[2]
